The board has been quite quiet lately… so i thought of posting something staright from my personal journal …well atleast a little part of it. Its a part i wrote about watching Christian movies…with all this drama going on lately on this topic…

So here goes… hopfully u get something out of it…otherwise.. oh well…something to keep the site going 🙂

Well all these controversies about Christian movies kind of made me think. I was asking God what was wrong with Christian movies, like the Passion. Why all this fuss!! It seems like a decent movie for me to watch. I haven’t seen it, but am waiting to see it once it comes on DVD. I learnt a few things from that website Chris and Jojy sent (I just glanced through them for couple of minutes, waiting to reach home to read it in detail). But this is what God was speaking to me these couple days.

It was actually through the book of Leviticus. It is in Leviticus that we find out that God cares about detail. Leviticus is all about very detailed rules and laws. From the sacrifices, to the Ministry/Restrictions of the Priest to Rules Regarding Food, Childbirth, Skin diseases, discharges etc. etc. etc. Its all there in detail. Extreme detail.

Don’t you think a Jew would wonder why all these details? Why does Yahweh care about all these things. Why does a sin offering have to consist of a tenth of an ephah of fine flour? Or, why could they only eat certain animals, like animals that chew the cud and have has a split hoof completely divided. Or, why is it that when a woman gives birth to a male, she is unclean for a week, but if she gives birth to a female, she is unclean for two whole weeks. Why that extra week? God doesn’t give an answer on why he chose all these million and one details. But he does tell them to follow all these laws, because He is holy and has set them apart from all other nations.

Leviticus 20:8

Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD , who makes you holy.

Leviticus 20:26

You are to be holy to me because I, the LORD , am holy, and I have set you apart from the nations to be my own.

In the same manner, in the New Testament, we are set apart to be holy. Paul many times tells us that we are supposed to be holy and emphasises on holiness. Peter, in 1 Peter 2:9, calls us a royal priesthood and a holy nation.

So watching Christian movies is probably that one extra detail that God wants me to follow, if I am supposed to be separated and holy unto Him. I don’t know why…but it seems that God wants me to. I wonder why my church has all these rules and regulations. But one thing I know for sure, that as my love for God increases more and more everyday, it is getting much easier for me to follow them and sometimes even understand them. I am noticing that all these petty rules are not really bothering me these days. Hopefully, by the grace of God, I can easily follow this little detail of not watching Christian movies… one day :)…
